How Crystal Cove got its name:
"Tigwatian Island"
This legendary island got its name from an
exotic sound that says "Tigwatian... Tigwatian..." from an unknown chirping bird that can
only be found in the island. Not so long time ago, people especially
fishermen, from the neighboring island would hear this exotic sound
that even up to now some staff of Crystal Cove would still hear the
singing of the birds.
Not so long ago, one night when the people were asleep, a
fisherman went sailing and upon his venture he heard a chirping sound
-- tigwatian, tigwatian, tigwatian. it was so beautiful that even the
sea and the trees dances with its rhythm. he went around searching for that beautiful
sound but after several hours he still coudn't find where that singing is coming from,
he then decided to leave. On his way home he all of sudden had an extraordinary and
unexplainable feeling of bliss. He looked back and saw unique kind of birds flying around the
island... singing... he believed that they were singing for their King.
FOLKLORE
Tay Conding a Coconut Wine "Tuba" gatherer said that this island
of Tigwatian is a home of the fairies. he supported this by telling us what he has
witnessed one evening while he was gathering "Tuba" on top of the coconut
tree on a full moon. He said that he heard some merry making from a distant - he looked
around to see where the merry making was coming from - when he looked at the island of
Tigwatian he was surprised to see a huge ship made of gold docking at Tigwatian's shore.
He was convinced that it was certainly made of gold because of its incredible glow, it
was shinning and glittering. Many people from Boracay, especially the olds believes Tay
Condring's Tale about this golden ship and they are still waiting and looking forward to
see it during full moon, it is said to be owned by a friendly fairy king who lives in his
